Nissan 200SX S14a

1997-1999

S14a-Drift

The S14 was replaced by the S14a. The changes were mainly cosmetic with sideskirts and a new style front bumper and headlamps, and updated rear lighting cluster. The front headlights also utlilise projector style lamps.

Following a recent survey by the UK SX Owners Club, SXOC, the S14a was found to be the most popular 200SX in the UK. A fact confimed by the offical Nissan sales figures. And yet, this UK sister of the Silvia remains a rarely seen car on the UKs roads.

This however isn't the case on the track! The S14a is the weapon of choice for many professional drifters in the UK, the USA and back over in Japan. The increased wheelbase over the S13 and bigger powerplant may be responsible, but the availability of spare parts may well be the reason.

It was a Drift Spec S14a drivin by Driftwork's Phil Morrison which recently won the 2006 D1GB Drift Championship. Many drivers in the US Formula D series also started in the S14a (and now enjoy the luxury of factory cars).

The S14a was superceded in Japan by the S15 Silvia, although this remained a JDM only car, never finding it's way to our shores or across the pond as a domestic vehicle.
